A bit about John...

John McEwan is well known on Merseyside as the ‘ Everton Poet ’. Born just a 100 yards from ‘ Prince Rupert’s Tower ’, which features on the Club Crest. John first saw Everton beat Charlton 3 - 2 in March 1948. He still goes to all Everton Home games. In 2008, for Liverpool’s ‘ Capital of Culture ’ Year, he combined his Two Passions of Poetry Writing and Everton F. C. by publishing an Award winning Book of 23 Poems called ‘ Goodison Greats ’, all written in an ‘ Acrostic ’ Style, with all Proceeds going to the ‘ Everton Former Players Foundation ’.

John has also written many ‘ Nostalgic ’ Poems, all based on his own personal Childhood Memories of growing up in the much bombed City areas of post - war Liverpool during the mid 1940’s & 50’s. These Poems have been excellent Fund - raisers for other Merseyside Charities, thanks mainly to generous support from ‘ BBC Radio Merseyside ’ listeners to ‘ Linda McDermott’s Late Show ’. MENSA Member, John’s main interests are his Family, Photography, Setting or Attending Quizzes, He also sings ‘ Hank Williams ’ style Numbers with the Southport Band ‘ Celtic Spirit ’ and is a Crown Green League Bowler.
